Leaseholders to vote on funding!
........ Vote YES! ........

updated 26 October 2006

There will shortly be a Ballot of all Islington Leaseholders so that we can relaunch the Association on a sound foundation. The Islington Leaseholders Association will be asking all leaseholders to vote for a small subscription to be paid through the service charge. We hope that a modest contribution from each of us will raise enough money to offer a professional service.

The aims of the Association are to:-
  • Establish our own office and advice surgeries for leaseholders
  • Hire professional advice from lawyers & surveyors
  • Ensure leaseholders know their legal rights
  • Produce a regular NewsLetter for leaseholders
  • Negotiate with the Council on behalf of leaseholders
  • Campaign for a fair deal leaseholders

The Islington Leaseholders Association is being established to protect the interests of all leaseholders of Islington Council properties. There are approximately 11,000 leaseholders in the borough. We make up about a quarter of all Islington's properties.

We all share common interests whether we live on an estate or a street property. But we're spread far and wide, may not know our neighbours and may feel that local Residents groups are somehow 'not for us'. This means that leaseholders are isolated when they want to challenge the council over their service bills or the bills for major works. We invite all Islington council leaseholders to join us to provide a strong voice and to support each other.

You can get involved by attending Forum meetings, all of which are open to the public. The standard format is for Forum to hold a 'serviced' meeting consulting HFI while the following month is more open with an agenda set by members. Meetings are held are usually held on the 2nd Wednesday of the month at the Town Hall, Upper st.
